Mold Growth Forms within Residential Home, located in Sparta, NJ

SERVPRO of Northern Sussex County performed a hazardous demolition and cleanup of mold, which formed on the walls, ceilings, and contents throughout and entire inherited residential home after it had been closed up, unoccupied, and unmonitored for an extended period of time.

Before remediation started, the technicians, using full face hepa-respirators, pre-cleaned, wrapped, and boxed all of the home’s salvageable contents. The work scope involved a general demolition of the entire home’s interior trim, baseboard, and walls, down to the stud framing, including the affected insulation, for proper disposal.

Along with hepa-vacuuming, a thorough cleaning of the stud walls and floor/roof joist systems, the remaining structure needed to be dried out with the placement of large dehumidifiers, and negative air fan/600 CFM air scrubbers for a 5 day period.

Before the home’s rebuild could begin, an application of an antimicrobial agent was applied, and an antimicrobial ULV fog was used. All of the stud walls were sealed with one antimicrobial coating for encapsulation.
