Clean-up of Unexpected Mold Found in a Residential Attic Space, Stockholm, NJ
Mold remediation work was required in the 3rd floor space of this residential attic after mold was found growing on the outside of the home’s exposed exterior wood sheathing, and the interior roof backside. Suspect mold growth was discovered to be present within the attic space after an Industrial Hygienist took air quality samples for lab result identification.
Work began with the setup of a containment airlock barrier zipper chamber to seal off the access from the rest of the home while our trained mold remediation technicians carefully removed, pre-cleaned, and wrapped the existing furniture and storage contents, to be placed in an arranged onsite pod. Removal and disposal of existing wet damaged drywall and insulation was necessary, exposing the existing mold underneath. Heavy cleaning and HEPA-vacuuming of the floor, stud walls, and roof joist systems was thoroughly performed to remediate the mold growth while operating a negative air fan scrubber with HEPA filtration and negative air exhaust fans within the space. The affected areas were treated with an antimicrobial agent and 1 coat of an antimicrobial sealer was applied to the stud walls and roof joist system to prevent future mold growth before the rebuild could begin.
